Up for sale here is the lowest entry into the Daytona market. This is the Zenith era Daytona- back when Rolex used to buy the El Primero base movements and use them in the Daytona! Ref. 16523.
Of course, Rolex modified the El Primero movements heavily before calling them their own, and branding it as the 4030 movement. They removed the date function to make it slimmer, switched the balance wheel and pallet assembly so that it operated at 4hz instead of 5hz, and actually only left about half the original parts in place!
I have this one priced low because of the condition. The bezel has a ding up by the “Units Per Hour” words, and is a bit rounded on the edges. The bracelet is slightly stretched, but honestly the entire watch is still very strong and has tons of life left in it.
Comes as a full set of box/papers as seen- only missing the inner pillow for the box. The warranty papers are dated in 1999.
