Up for sale here is a very interesting piece of history by Omega, produced directly in the Moon landing era. This was the first change after the 145.022-69, and features the Hippocapus medallion on the caseback vs just the engraving. Ref. 145-022-71.
This one also has a very rare and desirable exclusion. Where normally sits the words “Flight Qualified…” around the caseback of the Moonwatch, this one is blank! While Omega and NASA were going back and forth ironing out the details of what the watch should- Omega couldn’t just NOT produce watches! So until the wording was finalized, the a short run of Speedys in the new reference, with the medallion case back- do not have the NASA words.
This one has all the proper parts as it should- the original tritium step dial, 32204XXX movement with metallic “ladie’s leg” brake, and the 1171 bracelet with 633 end links.
This timepiece comes as watch only, and is in very good condition. Just had a service in 2025 by TM Watch!
